It is absurd and anti-life to be a part of a system that compels you to listen to a stranger reading poetry when you want to learn to construct buildings, or to sit with a stranger discussing the construction of buildings when you want to read poetry.

Posted April 21st, 2008 by ArpJust a quick heads up on my thoughts & feelings on the site. I'm happy with the activity - I always envisioned it growing organically, bit by bit. I'm not happy with the layout, which should be more inviting and sensible. Like (I think) bmxracermom said, it looks like a blog. New in the nav - news & blogs

I thought it might be cool to be up to date on unschooling news & blogs here. Since Google is nice enough to create feeds to subscribe to news & blog searches, I added a news page called unschooling news & blogs. What's kinda neat is the little button (actually, I need to make one) next to each entry that allows you to immediately write a blog and reference that link. I'm hoping to add more feeds in the future so we can keep up with unschooling all across the interwebs.

- classified ads/marketplace (sales/trades/services)

- design refresh to a more 'magazine/newspaper' style
- an articles section (maybe an online magazine eventually?)
- podcasting (again, depending on hosting)
- calendars & events (for organizing meetups & stuff)
