Darned if I didn't get stung in the face by a wasp yesterday! So much for telling the girls that the wasps will not bother them if they don't bother the wasps. I was minding my own business and the nasty thing flew right into my face and immediately stung me. The actual sting wasn't as painful as one would expect but the aftermath is unpleasant. The vision in my eye is blurry and there is swelling all around the sting areaand I've got a tremendous headache and that side of my face aches right down to the bone. Naturally the event led to a bit of a mini lesson on wasps. Wasp stings do contain venom, much to my surprise! They don't die after they sting (but it deserves to if you ask me), they can repeatedly sting, and wasps can signal other wasps to cause a group of them to swarm and sting! Immediately I used the back of a butter knife to scrape out the stinger since I didn't know there wasn't a stinger. The cool metal did soothe the sting. I'm not sure if the act of pressing and scraping the knife against my skin was able to disperse the venom or something crazy like that but it stopped hurting as soon as I did that. Now the girls are even more concerned about wasps.
you poor thing...
That's just horrible!
Hope you feel better soon!!
:(
As if I need more facial deformities. It seems to be worsening instead of getting better. Tonight I will take a couple of Benadryl. Thanks for wishing me well.
